Southend punk rockers Hexes will unleash their eagerly anticipated debut album ‘White Noise/ Black Sound’ on March 09 2009.
Hot on the heels of last year’s (Dec 08) single ‘Eyes Like Knives’, ‘White Noise/ Black Sound’ ably demonstrates the quartet’s immense sound. Clearly their relentless touring schedule over the past 12 months (which have seen Hexes on the road with The Bronx, Gallows, The Ghost Of A Thousand, Finch, Cancer Bats, The Plight, as well as opening the Lock Up Stage at 2008’s Reading and Leeds festivals over the Summer) has paid off.
The brains behind Hexes is Daniel P Carter – formally of A / The Lucky Nine – who alongside guitarist Jay Rowe (The Lucky Nine), drummer Tom Winch and bassist Jon Poulten – have created one of the UK’s most exciting musical propositions.
Hexes have already been tipped in Kerrang! and Rock Sound magazine’s as a band to watch in 2009, while the ‘Eyes Like Knives’ single has received a heap of airplay on XFM’s Rock Show, BBC Radio One’s Mike Davies Punk Show as well as Zane Lowe’s show.
‘White Noise/ Black Sound’ was recorded at the tail end of the Summer 08 at The Outhouse Studio in Reading with John Mitchell (Architects, Enter Shikari, Dead Swans).
Lifting its title from an essay from Anton LaVey entitled The Invisible War, musically it’s a blistering 12 track affair of snotty, vitriolic and yet infectious punk rock.
From the energetic single ‘Eyes Like Knives’, the gnarly spite of ‘The Score’ and the epic closers ‘The New Immediatists’ and ‘The Invisible War’ (which directly address’s LaVey’s lecture), ‘White Noise / Black Sound’ is an album that is stepping up the bar of what punk rock should be.
The album is released on Undergroove (home of The Ghost Of A Thousand, Minus The Bear, Johnny Truant, Take A Worm For A Walk Week etc). Expect plenty of live action to accompany the release.
